The Challenge

25 Water, a premier address in the heart of New York City, sought to introduce substantial, organic concrete elements into its interior architecture. The design called for massive bench/planter hybrids to bring greenery into the steel and glass environment. However, executing this vision posed a significant logistical challenge. Constructing large scale concrete features on the 25th floor or weaving them through a multi-level lobby using traditional poured-in-place methods would have been nearly impossible due to weight restrictions, mess, and limited site access in a busy metropolitan high-rise.

The Solution

Printera executed a high-precision modular strategy to bring this vision to life. We divided the massive scope into over 140 individual 3D-printed components, manufactured entirely at our controlled facility in Florida.

  • The Centerpiece: A sprawling 25′ x 60′ bench-planter that physically visualizes the connection between three distinct levels of the lobby.

  • The High-Rise: Two additional units designed for the 25th floor, offering seating with a view.

  • The Spa: A calming, nature inspired unit for the wellness center.

Once printed, these modular pieces were transported to NYC and assembled on site like a complex 3D puzzle. To ensure a uniform, high-end aesthetic, the assembled forms were finished with a sleek micro-create coating, creating a seamless, monolithic look that hides the assembly joints.

The Outcome

25 Water stands as a prime example of complex assembly and logistical success. By pre-printing and segmenting the design, the contractor successfully installed industrial grade concrete features in spaces that traditional contractors couldn’t reach. The result is a series of functional art pieces that serve as both seating and vibrant gardens, softening the modern architecture with organic forms. From the bustling multi level lobby to the serene spa and the sky-high 25th floor, Printera delivered a cohesive, durable, and luxurious aesthetic throughout the building.
