Client: Suntan Miami
Location: West Palm Beach, FL
Project Type: Commercial / Furniture
Timeline: Â 1 Day Printing / 1 Day to Install (by Contractor)
The Challenge
For the grand opening of their new West Palm Beach location, Suntan Miami wanted an interior that did more than just house tanning beds; they wanted an atmosphere that transported clients to the beach the moment they walked through the door. Standard millwork or laminate reception desks felt too corporate and cold for a brand built on warmth and relaxation. The client needed a centerpiece that was not only functional but visually evocative, a sculptural element that could anchor the room and immediately communicate the “beachside” vibe.
The Solution
Printera utilized the natural layering process of 3D concrete printing to simulate organic textures found in nature. We designed and printed a massive front reception desk featuring a custom “ripple” pattern, specifically programmed to mimic the wind swept flow of sand dunes. To deepen the illusion, we moved beyond standard grey concrete. We developed a custom color mix that matched the warm, beige tones of real sand. By combining this specific pigmentation with the rhythmic, undulating layers of the print, we created a solid concrete structure that looks soft and inviting.
The Outcome
The reception desk now serves as the defining feature of the West Palm Beach location. It acts as a stunning visual anchor, blending innovation with nature to set a relaxing tone for every customer visit. This project demonstrates that concrete doesn’t have to be industrial or brutalist; with the right design and color application, it can be warm, organic, and perfectly aligned with a luxury retail brand.
