All Printera products are sold with a two year warranty unless specifically excluded or otherwise indicated on the invoice/receipt/contract. This warranty covers defects in the printed part and workmanship under normal use and installation conditions.  It does not cover any issues that arise due to accidental damage, misuse, abuse, vandalism, or use/installation in a way that is not consistent with the product.

Typical characteristics of 3D printed mortar that are not covered:

Due to the nature of 3D printed mortar, there can be a wide range of cosmetic anomalies. These anomalies do not impact the performance of the product.  Below are some cosmetic anomalies that are typical to 3D printed mortar and are not covered by the warranty.

Minor Color Variation

  • Color variation in concrete printing can occur due to several factors and is a normal outcome of 3D concrete printing/work.
  • This variation is a result of material composition, printing conditions, surface finish, and curing/drying.

Hairline Cracks

  • Hairline cracks are superficial cracks that do not compromise the structural integrity of the printed item.  These cracks are very fine, typically less than 0.1mm.
  • Certain designs or structural loads can induce stress, leading to hairline cracks as the material settles or experiences external pressure.
  • Environmental factors can also cause hairline cracks as changes in temperature, humidity, or exposure to external elements can cause 3D printed mortar to expand or contract.

Minor Print Line Variations

  • Minor print line variations in 3D printed concrete refer to slight irregularities or imperfections in the surface finish of the printed object.  These variations are considered normal in 3D printing and do not affect the structural integrity of the final object.

Surface damage from harsh chemicals & solvents

Surface damage from harsh chemicals & solvents manifest in several ways, including:

  • Etching: Chemicals like acids can etch the surface, creating a rough, pitted texture.
  • Discoloration: Some chemicals cause staining or discoloration altering the appearance
  • Weakening: Exposure to certain solvents can weaken concrete, leading to cracks or deterioration
  • Surface Degradation: Chemical reactions with the concrete surface can lead to , causing it to crumble or flake off

Preventing such damage involves choosing appropriate sealants or coatings that resist chemical reactions.  Additionally, prompt cleaning and rinsing of spills can mitigate potential harm to the concrete surface.  Regular maintenance and avoiding exposure to incompatible substances can help preserve your piece.

Damage from pressure washing

Pressure washing 3D printed mortar can lead to damage if not done properly:

  • Surface Erosion: High-pressure jets can erode the top layer of sealant or 3D printed mortar.
  • Water Penetration: Intense pressure can force water into tiny cracks, potentially enlarging them and compromising the concrete’s appearance and structural integrity.
  • Surface Scarring: Directing the pressure washer nozzle too closely or for too long in one spot can leave visible scars or marks on the concrete.

Damage as a result of loading, unloading, and installation

Improper loading, unloading, and installation can lead to various types of damage to 3D printed pieces:

  • Cracking: Excessive force or uneven distribution during loading/unloading can cause cracks in the 3D printed mortar due to stress concentration.
  • Spalling: Impact or mishandling while loading/unloading can chip or break off concrete surfaces, especially at edges or corners.
  • Structural Weakness: Incorrect installation techniques or improper support can compromise the structural integrity of the 3D printed mortar, leading to the deterioration or failure of the piece.
  • Misalignment: Inaccurate placement during installation might result in misaligned components or uneven surfaces, impacting overall functionality or aesthetics of the concrete structure.

Proper handling, distribution of weight, use of appropriate equipment, and following recommended installation procedures are crucial to prevent damage and ensure the integrity of the piece during loading, unloading, and installation.

Claim process:

Upon receipt of a warranty claim, Printera will determine whether a repair, replacement, or refund is appropriate. Upon the appropriate action being decided, the timeline to enact will be communicated with the client based on the size of the piece, failure observed, and client needs.  The below steps outline what you can expect should a claim need to be filed.

  • Gather Documentation

Collect receipt/invoice and any relevant documentation and photos of the issue.  Please be sure to include images that show the entire piece as well as close up shots of the issue.

  • Submit Documentation

Send all gathered documentation to Printera at Contact@printera3d.com.  Please be sure to explain the issue along with any specific information, including how the piece has been stored/used since delivery.

  • Claim Review

Upon receipt, Printera will review and evaluate the submitted claim and request more information or provide a disposition and next steps within 5 business days.

  • Potential Resolutions

    1. Claim Rejected: The claim was found to not be covered by our warranty. Details related to this decision will be shared.
    2. Repair Authorized: The most suitable course of action is a repair. Details related to the specifics of the repair will be shared along with the timeline to complete the repair.
    3. Reprint Authorized: A new piece will be printed and delivered to replace the faulty piece. Details around the timeline for printing and delivery will be shared.
      1. If the product in question is made up of multiple pieces, Printera at its discretion will determine which individual pieces will be reprinted.
      2. Installation costs are not included in the warranty.
    4. Refund Authorized: If a repair and reprint are deemed to be impractical, Printera will at its discretion decide to refund the purchase price of the item.
