Client: CIMSA Americas
Location: Austin, TX
Project Type: Commercial / Entry Monument / Signage
Timeline: 2 Day Printing / 2 Day to Install (by Contractor)
The Challenge
When a client requested a monumental signage structure spanning over 50 feet in length, the logistical hurdles were immediately apparent. A structure of this magnitude usually dictates a costly on site construction project, requiring crews, molds, and heavy machinery to be deployed to the final location. The client needed a solution that offered the custom, high tech aesthetic of 3D printing but wanted to avoid the unpredictability and expense of setting up a gantry printer outdoors in the Texas heat. The challenge was twofold: manufacturing a colossal sign and ensuring it could survive a 1,000+ mile journey from Florida to Texas.
The Solution
Printera accepted the challenge to manufacture the 50 foot behemoth entirely within our controlled facility in Florida. Using our large scale robotic technology, we printed the sign with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that the sheer size did not compromise the surface resolution or structural integrity. By printing indoors, we eliminated weather delays and environmental imperfections. We then utilized a strategic segmentation strategy to prepare the monumental pieces for transport. This was not just a printing feat; it was a logistical triumph, proving that delicate, high-tech concrete forms could be mobile.
The Outcome
The successful installation in Texas stands as a defining moment for off site 3D construction. The sign arrived in perfect condition and was integrated seamlessly into the site, offering a level of finish that on-site pouring simply could not match. This project underscores Printera’s ability to push geographical boundaries. It proves that our “Pre-Printed” method is not limited by distance, we can deliver large-scale, customized infrastructure anywhere in the country, bringing the innovation of Florida manufacturing to diverse locations without the hassle of on site fabrication.
